When I Was Sick You Healed Me

Hello everyone! It seems like I haven't posted in months. Sorry! Life just gets crazy sometimes and then I have a lot on my mind. I just couldn't bring myself to stop and think about anything other than school and trying to find a good job. I have a few testimonies to share over the past two weeks that reminded me that Jesus Christ plays many roles in my life and my Great Physician is one of them. So I will keep this short and sweet :)

Last week early in the morning, while I was at work I began feeling very nauseated. I have no idea why. One moment I feel great and then I walk into another room and a wave of nausea hits me out of no where. It came on me very strong to so I ran to the bathroom to prepare myself for what was to come. While I was in the bathroom I just breathed and tried to focus on praying. All I asked, "LORD, please take away this discomfort that I am feeling. Help me through this." I had a hard time focusing because all I was thinking about was how my stomach hurt and I just wanted to throw up, but the only words I was able to muster were "thank you Jesus." It's not much of a prayer but the last time I checked you don't need to be a Bible scholar or have a fancy speech in order for God to hear you. I have heard this specific story so many times that I will always carry it with me because it has a strong message behind it. The story goes that a young boy was troubled one day and wanted to pray but he didn't know how to. What he did know how to do was recite the alphabet. So he got down on his knees, bowed his head and said "Dear God, A.B.C.D.E…. Amen." As this young boy was praying a priest went by and heard him.
He asked the boy, "What are you doing?"
The boy answered "I'm praying."
The priest said, "That's not how you pray."
The boy replied, "Well, I don't know how to pray but I figured that since God knows my need that He can put the right words together using all the letters in the alphabet."
At this response all the priest could do was cry because despite all of his efforts the boy had a more sincere/humble approach before God. So together the priest and the young boy bowed their heads and recited the alphabet.

I have always loved this story as simple as it was. Even though I struggled to focus and all I could do was say "thank you Jesus" I know God still heard me even beyond my simple words. It was only a few minutes and the nausea passed and I felt perfectly fine the rest of the day. I had another incident today, again at work. I was in the middle of a conversation and I started having extremely bad chest pains. It kind of reminded me of when you get the wind knocked out of you but without the lack of oxygen, it was just the pain. Anyway, I continued with my conversation and prayed within myself for God to take the pain away. Again, he came through for me. From these two incidents I was reminded of the scripture Isaiah 53:5 "…with His stripes we are healed."  All I need is this one scripture to change my entire life. Any time I am sick or in pain I know that Jesus was beaten with a whip so that I can be healed. When I was feeling sick all I kept thinking was that I know He wouldn't do that in vain so, therefore, I am healed because of the stripes branded on His back. That's the sign for my healing and it's a promise to me. Even if it doesn't come right away I can be comforted in the meantime knowing that it will come because of Calvary. That's all I need. I am thankful that we serve a God who is compassionate like that. Who has a love for us that we could never comprehend even if we tried. So I thank God for my healing and thank God for yours. Just remember that He hears even the smallest prayer. And if you have run out of words or feel like you have nothing left than just say "Thank You Jesus for the stripes you bore for my healing." God bless you and be encouraged in the LORD always.
