It's Simple, Let It Go!
"Be careful for
nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians
4:6-7)
I should be the
first to admit that I don't let things go after I commit my needs to God. I am
a worrier, so I tend to hold on to everything and overthink. Then from spending
hours in the day from overthinking I try to fix the situations myself, because I
am also impatient, and then I make things so much worse. Don't I sound lovely
:) If I used any wisdom to start with I would have saved myself a lot of energy
and headaches if I trusted God to take care of the situation in the beginning.
Can you relate to me? God makes it simple for us. All we have to do is come
before God with a thankful heart and let our problems be made known to Him and
He promised us His peace in return. What is so complicated about that? Many
people probably think that God is difficult and His ways make no sense. In
reality He is extremely simple, so simple that we tend to miss Him answering
our prayers most of the time because we are expecting Him to move in some
extravagant way. We are the complicated ones, not God. He says in Isaiah 55:8,
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,
saith the LORD." An evangelist preached a message one time called
"God Hiding Himself in Simplicity, Then Revealing Himself in the
Same." He said in his sermon that many people will; "miss Him by the
way that He reveals Himself; for He is so great, yet, hides Himself in
simplicity, to make His self known to the least (us). See? Don't try to get the
great, because He goes over the top of it. But listen to the simplicity of God,
and Then you will find God right here in the simple way." I forget so
often that God is more than able to work out the problems that I face. I could
be having one of those days where I am overthinking everything; and when I say
overthinking I mean worrying over things that were never said or never happened
because I am jumping to conclusions, I forget that God is more than able to
lift whatever is weighing me down and fix the problem. I limit God, the Creator
of heavens and earth! I put Him in a box. Have I forgotten that He is the One
that created me and not the other way around? Who am I to think I know how to
fix my problems better than the Problem Solver? Smh….please. I am nothing. This
body of mine will rot and return to the dust of the earth one day, and my brain
with it. Can I create an entire world? Can I part the Red Sea? Can I make fire
rain from the sky? Can I heal someone from a disease? NO! So who do I think I
am?! I am not God, I am just a child of God. You who are parents, when your
child is upset, what do they do? They
run to you and tell you what is bothering them. Here is a simple example, what
if your daughter or son come to you in tears because a piece broke off of their
favorite toy. They show you the problem, you examine it and say "it's
alright I can glue this back on, just wait a moment." You work your magic
and BOOM! You fixed the problem. Simple, right? Well, it is the same with God.
He is our heavenly Father and He will do the same for us as we would for our
own child." Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all
that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"
(Ephesians 3:20). God is more than able to fix the most simple and yet the most
complicated of situations. All He asks us to do is trust in Him with our hearts
not by what are human minds can understand. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in
the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In
all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." That’s all
we have to do. (1) Trust and (2) Acknowledge Him. How do you acknowledge God in
everything? This takes us back to the beginning in Philippians when it says,
"with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God,"
acknowledging Him is so simple as keeping a thankful heart and praising Him. We
can acknowledge Him at work by testifying to others something He has done for
us. Let me use my lovely grandma for an example of the simplest ways you can thank God. She
testified to me one time that there was a day that she had this monster craving
for donuts. Now, she did not tell anyone about her craving. Later on in the day
she heard a knock at her door and it was her neighbor/ best friend standing
there holding a box of a dozen warm, delicious donuts for her. It's safe to say
that my grandma got her blessing that day. She testified about this for weeks
afterwards because she was thankful that God gave her donuts. If He is willing
to give us donuts how mush more the desires of our hearts if we just ask Him
and let Him work. Remember that God promised us two things in return of
acknowledging Him and bringing our requests to Him, (1) he promised us peace
for our hearts and minds and (2) He promised to direct us in the way we should
go. So why do we worry? It's simple, let it go! Let God be God. Remember that
verse that I mentioned in the previous post "I Was Brought Low and He
Helped Me," God says in Psalms to be still and know He is God. When we
pray today lets remember that God is God and we are only flesh, human. When we
lay our burdens at His feet, let us leave it there and walk away at peace. Let
us have confidence and faith knowing that God will answer, but let us not
forget that He works in simplicity. Let's pray that we do not miss our prayers
being answered right in front of us when we are too busy looking for something
glamorous to happen. I pray this is an encouragement to you today. Pray for me
and I will be praying for you. God Bless you.
Wonderful examples of God's love! Thank you so much for sharing!!
