HAPPY FRIDAY! Thank
You Jesus for bringing us through another week. I will keep this short and
sweet. Today I want to provide an encouraging thought. We always talk about
wanting peace in our lives constantly. Most of the time it seems to come and
go. Have we ever wondered how to obtain the peace of God? There is a simple
answer for this in Philippians 4:8-9, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever
things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things,
which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and
the God of peace shall be with you." The apostle Paul is teaching us here
that in order to keep God's peace we must occupy our minds with the right
things. What is considered "right things"? God's Word. There is
nothing in this world more right than the Word of truth. It's where we receive
our daily bread for our strength. Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the Word of
God dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the
LORD." If we fill our minds completely with God's Holy Word, as the quote
above says, then there will be no room for the enemies lies. This is one of the
biggest challenges for me. All my life I have been told I was stupid, ugly,
fat, basically unlovable, etc. This was not done by my loving family, this was
said from others in my life at the time. I can't even imagine the things that
must have been said behind my back through the years. Regardless, I listened to
every lie that was told to me. So I became insecure with how I looked and how I
carried myself. These comments were spoken to me so much that I accepted them
as fact. After a while I blindly was telling myself the same degrading names
that others told me. I became my own bully! Any negative thought that comes in my mind is not of God. If I filled my mind
with Scripture then it would not have mattered what people said about me. Jesus
Christ tells me who I am. I believed I was junk, but the Word says God does not
make junk. I do not find my identity in what others say. I find my identity in
Christ, and you should too! If you want a positive mindset and peace today you will
only find the original products from God Himself. We can try everything else to
substitute the real thing with music, exercise, foods, spas, essential oil
blends, naps, etc. The list would continue forever. We have no idea what true
peace and joy is until we receive it through the Holy Spirit of God. Let us take God at His Word, He says what He
means and He means what He says. I think we listen to the devil's lies way too
much, it seems that is the only voice we listen too. That's our first mistake.
The moment we stop to listen to reason rather than faith is the moment we fail.
Our enemy is not our neighbor, coworker, parent, or child. Our enemy is the
Devil and him alone. "We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high
places" (Ephesians 6:12) Let us take time with God today, get quiet for a
moment and pray, and let the God of truth speak to us. Let us not leave room for
the enemy's lies anymore!
"If I were your enemy, I'd devalue your strength and magnify your insecurities until they dominate how you see yourself, disabling and disarming you from fighting back, from being free, from being who God has created you to be. I'd work hard to ensure that you never realize what God had given you so you'll doubt the power of God within you." - Priscilla Shirer
